General Skilled Migration (GSM) program
One of the most popular Australian immigration programs is the General Skilled Migration (GSM) program, which offers a PR Visa to Australia to eligible skilled foreign workers whose occupations are in high demand in Australia (as indicated on the Skilled Occupations List or the Consolidated Skilled Occupations List) and who meet all of the requirements established by the Australian government.
Three of the main subclasses for the GSM program are the Skilled Independent Subclass 189 Visa to Australia, Skilled Nominated Subclass 190 Visa to Australia and the Skilled Regional Sponsored Visa (Subclass 489). These three visas are points-based Australian immigration programs in which points are given for age, English language abilities, work experience, education level, and other factors. A minimum of 65 points is required to be eligible to file an Expression of Interest (EOI) to immigrate to Australia through the GSM Program. Skilled foreign workers must also be under 50 years of age when the Invitation to Apply (ITA) for the Australian PR Visa is issued; pass health and background checks; and meet other requirements.
